Update: Dolphins Not Playing at HardRock Stadium in Miami this weekend...College/NFL Teams Edging Closer to Hurricane Irma Decisions as Florida Landfall Concerns Grow

September 5, 2017

SEPTEMBER 5, 2017 - Updated 2:38pm CST

UPDATE: The Memphis/UCF Game has been moved up to Friday at 6:30pm at Spectrum Stadium in Orlando.

The Miami Dolphins have announced that they will not be playing at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami this weekend...updates on new date/venue from the Dolphins soon.

As Hurricane Irma continues to grow in strength and size, now the strongest hurricane with potential impacts in the US in the last 10 years, serious preparation and safety considerations are at the forefront of the decision-makers with the Miami Dolphins and several college football programs in the Sunshine State.

Governor Rick Scott has declared a State of Emergency for Florida in advance of the powerful storm. Right now the almost certain issues will be with South Florida contests in Miami Saturday and Sunday. Potential game time changes and/or postponements are possible for all other games north of the I-4 corridor. Right now the UL Monroe/FSU game slated for 7pm Eastern at Doak Campbell is far enough north to likely go on as scheduled, with impacts from wind and rain.

Postponements and venue moves are extremely likely in the next few hours/days for South Florida, maybe Central Florida games. Gameday Sky will continue to monitor and update any cancellations.
